Drastic Change of Plan

Whilst editing some of my existing footage alongside some of my friends who were curious to see what the footage they were in looked like, they made a comment expressing how the song didn’t fit with the visuals and therefore it didn’t look good on the eye. This was when we started going through other songs to see if any would fit or figure out a way to make the existing footage work. However, one song we found fitted almost perfectly in terms of timing and expressed a similar narrative. This was ‘Calvin Harris – I’m not Alone’ this song is more within the mainstream bracket of Dance and Electronic music and therefore is a lot conventional.

This meant that the main tune/drop of the song came in a lot earlier than the previous son (around 40 seconds) compared to nearly 3 minutes of build-up in the previous song. This means the audience where getting regularly bored and would most likely turn the video off before it even reached the main part and good tune of the song. This led me to use the new song making my task as the video producer easier and more likely to fit with the genre and gain more marks.

In terms of the storyline and narrative that is where the main issue lay; this is because the previous video would show Conor struggling to fit in with his social group, however, this song now shows Conor in the exact opposite light, this means that he is now a main part of his social group instead of in the distance.

The video itself and the narrative surrounding the track will be similar to the original idea. However, flipped around.

Original: Conor is struggling at school and therefore is struggling to fit in and maintain a standing within his social group, including maintaining a relationship with his girlfriend.

New: Conor is still struggling at school to keep to deadlines, however, this is due to the high social standing he has whereby his friends and girlfriend come before his school life.

This change may seem like a large switch in tempo and direction however, in terms of pulling it off it will be relatively easy.
